Laura Rumbley has a diverse work experience in the field of international education and research. Laura is currently serving as the Director of Knowledge Development and Research at EAIE: European Association for International Education since May 2023. Previously, they worked as the Co-Editor at the Journal of Studies in International Education starting from January 2014. Laura also held the position of Associate Director of Knowledge Development & Research at European Association for International Education from 2019 to 2023. Prior to that, they worked as the Associate Director & Assistant Professor of the Practice at Boston College Center for International Higher Education from April 2012 to December 2018. Before their role at Boston College, Laura was Deputy Director at ACA - Academic Cooperation Association from April 2010 to March 2012. Laura started their career as a Research Associate and later served as a Doctoral Research Assistant at Boston College Center for International Higher Education from 2003 to 2009. Laura also has experience as a Foreign Service Officer at the U.S. Department of State from 2002 to 2003. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Marketing and Admissions Administrator at Boston University from 1997 to 2001.

Laura Rumbley holds a PhD in Higher Education Administration from Boston College - Lynch School of Education, which they completed between 2003 and 2007. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of International & Intercultural Management from the School for International Training from 1996 to 1999. Laura also has a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service with a focus on International Politics from Georgetown University, which they earned from 1988 to 1992.
