Laura Espinosa

Laura Espinosa is an expert in epidemic intelligence with extensive experience at the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) since 2014, currently serving as an Expert Epidemic Intelligence. Laura leads initiatives to digitize event-based surveillance and oversees projects incorporating artificial intelligence into epidemic intelligence activities. Additionally, Laura has academic experience as a PhD student at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, focusing on digital epidemiology. Educational qualifications include multiple degrees in veterinary sciences, public health, food safety, and a series of certifications in applied data science and machine learning. Laura's work spans significant public health preparedness projects and innovative research approaches, emphasizing a One Health perspective.
