Elmar Nimmesgern has extensive experience in health research and policy, currently serving as a Policy Officer for Health Research and Global Health at the European Commission, and previously held the position of Interim Executive Director at the Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking. Elmar also worked as the Secretariat Lead for the Global AMR R&D Hub and held various roles at the European Commission, including Deputy Head of Unit for Innovative and Personalised Medicine. Prior experience includes positions as Project Head for IMPDH Research and Research Scientist at Vertex Pharmaceuticals. Elmar holds a Diploma in Biochemistry from the University of Tübingen and a Research Doctorate in Biochemistry from Heidelberg University.
