Luca Perez

Luca Perez is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in sustainable environmental management, particularly within the European Commission since August 2011. As Deputy Head of Unit for Sustainable Freshwater Management and previously for Bilateral & Regional Environmental Cooperation, Luca has led policy development on combating deforestation and implementing EU forest governance initiatives. Prior roles include Global Project Coordinator at UNEP-WCMC, where oversight of a global capacity building project under the UNCCD was managed, and Programme Analyst at UNDP, focusing on natural resources management and climate change in Botswana. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Tourism Economics and Sustainable Territorial Development from Università di Catania and a post-graduate certificate in Tropical Agri-sylvo-pastoral Systems from Scuola Superiore 'Sant' Anna' di Studi Universitari e di Perfezionamento.
