Alex Giurca is a Principal Scientist at the European Forest Institute since December 2022, previously serving as Executive Manager at the Heidelberg Center for the Environment from May 2021 to December 2022, where the focus was on climate change, resource depletion, and the transition to a circular bioeconomy. Prior experience includes roles as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Doctoral Researcher at the University of Freiburg, where Alex contributed to international projects on societal perceptions of the bioeconomy and policy development. Involved in various visiting research and fellowship positions across multiple institutions, Alex has a rich academic background with a PhD in Forest and Environmental Policy from the University of Freiburg and multiple master's degrees in European Forestry from recognized universities.
