Researcher Climate-smart Wood Uses at European Forest Institute

Cleo Orfanidou is a researcher specializing in climate-smart wood uses at the European Forest Institute, where involvement with the Climate-Smart Forestry team and the Sustainable Bioeconomy team has been prominent since December 2018. Currently a part-time visiting researcher at Aalto University to advance PhD studies with support from the Wihuri Foundation, Cleo has completed numerous courses in wood technology, ESG analysis, and life cycle assessment among others. Prior experience includes a role as a team member at the EFI Bioregions Facility, promoting sustainable forest-based circular bioeconomy initiatives, and providing engineering support as an Assistant Civil Engineer for the Municipality of Nestos. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Science in Technology (ongoing) from Aalto University, a Master of Science in Architectural Engineering from DTU, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, along with additional studies in architectural technology and construction management.
