Mohammad S. Islam has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Mohammad S. is currently working as a Senior Scientist at Novalith since May 2023. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Research Fellow at Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Department in The University of New South Wales from October 2017 to July 2023. Mohammad S. also worked as an Industrial Consultant at Basalt Fiber Tech from 2017 to 2023.

Before joining The University of New South Wales, Mohammad was a CRC-ACS Research Fellow at Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering Department in The University of Sydney from November 2011 to October 2017. Mohammad S. was also a Research Fellow at the Department of Polymer Engineering, Institute of Polymers and Composites in The University of Minho from 2010 to 2011.

Furthermore, Mohammad served as a Research Fellow at CSIRO from 2009 to 2010 and as a Materials Scientist at Pultron Composites Ltd from 2008 to 2009. Mohammad S. started their career as a Research Fellow with Technology for Industry Fellowship (TIF) scheme at Hemptech, New Zealand from 2004 to 2007. During the same time period, they also worked as an Industrial Consultant and Teaching Assistant.

Lastly, Mohammad S. Islam began their professional journey as a Lecturer at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in 1999. Mohammad S. then went on to become an Assistant Professor at the same institution from 2002 to 2004. Throughout their career, they have gained extensive experience in various research and engineering roles in different organizations and academic institutions.

Mohammad S. Islam pursued their PhD in Materials and Process Engineering from 2004 to 2008 at The University of Waikato.
