Senior Forest Governance And Timber Legality Expert at European Forest Institute

Krystof Obidzinski is a seasoned expert in forest governance and timber legality, currently serving as a Senior Forest Governance and Timber Legality Expert at the European Forest Institute since September 2017. Previously, Krystof held the position of Senior Landuse Advisor at the Global Green Growth Institute, focusing on sustainable land use planning in Indonesia. With extensive experience at CIFOR as a Senior Scientist and earlier roles in forest governance research, Krystof engaged in significant projects addressing illegal logging and its impacts on global trade. Additional experience includes coordination of studies on illegal logging at the International Institute for Environment and Development and consultancy roles related to forestry in Indonesia. Krystof’s academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Amsterdam, a Master’s Degree in Ecological Anthropology from The University of Georgia, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology of Development and Human Geography from Central Connecticut State University.
