Maria Papaioannou

Maria Papaioannou is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in legal and monitoring roles related to asylum and human rights. Currently serving as a Senior Monitoring Officer and previously as an Information and Analysis Officer at the European Union Agency for Asylum since February 2017, Maria has also held various positions such as Information Assistant at Panteion University and Lawyer at the Athens Bar. Maria's academic credentials include a PhD in International Law and Legal Studies from Panteion Panepestimion Ikonomikon kai Politicon Epistimon, alongside certificates from prestigious institutions such as the European University Institute and the Hague Academy of International Law. Additional experience includes roles in the Appeals Authority at the Greek Ministry of Public Order and Citizen Protection and involvement with the European Commission and UNESCO.
