William Goldsmith is the Head of Commercial and Grid Services at ev.energy. Prior to this, they worked as a Balancing Markets Development Officer at National Grid ESO, where they were responsible for reforming electricity balancing services with a focus on increasing flexibility from renewable generation. William also led the strategy and development of a multi-million pound IT project to increase the ability to use wind and other renewables to balance the GB electricity grid.
Before joining National Grid, Goldsmith worked as a Project Lead at Head Communications BV, where they led a team of 6 multi-disciplinary engineers to design, develop and build a satellite communications system for unmanned postal delivery drones. The project was successful and awarded best masters project 2016.
Goldsmith has also worked as an Electric Vehicle Lead in Regulation & Government Strategy at National Grid. In this role, they were responsible for developing and delivering National Grid’s electric vehicle strategy, including working with government on policy and regulation.
William Goldsmith has a degree in electromechanical engineering from the University of Southampton and is currently pursuing a career in energy engineering. William has also attained a certification in the Lean Competency System from the LCS - 1A and is a certified RYA Keelboat Coach.
