Carl Underwood, Ed.D., MBOE, LSSBB, serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources & Business Affairs for the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation since August 2009, overseeing a budget exceeding $225 million and managing financial activities. Previously, Underwood held roles as Principal and Assistant Principal within the same corporation, achieving significant student performance improvements. In addition to administrative positions, Underwood is an adjunct professor at Oakland City University, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in education and business. Underwood's educational background includes a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and a Master of Business in Operational Excellence, complemented by degrees in Teaching and Accounting.

The EVSC is the third largest school district in the state of Indiana with an enrollment of more than 22,000 students and 3400 employees. The district is a county-wide system that is comprised of urban, suburban and rural areas.
