Syed Nazrul (Sadat)

Syed (Sadat) Nazrul has a diverse work experience, starting from their role as a Founder and Career Fair Lead at the Chemical and Nano Material Career Fair in 2013. Syed (Sadat) then worked as a Research Assistant at UC San Diego, focusing on computational material science. After that, they joined Cymer as a Software Developer, where they developed software packages and libraries for DUV Laser Systems.

Following their time at Cymer, Syed worked at the San Diego Supercomputer Center as a Systems Administrator, helping researchers in various fields utilize supercomputing resources. Syed (Sadat) then joined FICO as an Analytic Scientist, before moving on to Amazon as an Applied Scientist. At Amazon, they worked in the fraud department and the Economics Technologies team, developing machine learning models and optimizing business rules to prevent identity theft and improve forecasting and cost optimization.

Currently, Syed is working at Eventbrite as a Senior Data Scientist, where they are responsible for developing event recommender systems and scaling pipelines to accommodate millions of users. Throughout their career, Syed has demonstrated expertise in machine learning, risk management, and data analysis, consistently achieving notable results and presenting their work at conferences.

Syed (Sadat) Nazrul pursued their education at UC San Diego, where they earned a Master's Degree in Data Science and Engineering from 2015 to 2017. Prior to that, from 2011 to 2015, they also attended UC San Diego for their undergraduate studies, completing a dual degree in Nanoengineering (B.Sc.) and Economics (B.A.).
