General Counsel at Evergen

Theo Kapodistrias has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Starting in 2010, they worked as a Pharmacy Assistant at Magnet Court Chemmart until 2014. From 2014 to 2020, Theo served as a Lawyer at the University of Tasmania, providing legal advice on commercial agreements, projects, anti-discrimination matters, privacy law, intellectual property, policies, and more. In 2020, they became the General Counsel at UpGuard, overseeing legal risk mitigation and providing legal advice. Simultaneously, they ventured into public speaking and coaching, offering services such as workshops and 1:1 public speaking coaching. In 2021, Theo took on the role of Executive Director, Licensee, & Curator for TEDxHobart where they managed the planning, organization, and management of the event. They also became a Director of the Association of Corporate Counsel Australia and the Legal and Commercial Manager at Tourism Tasmania. In 2021, Theo joined Business Events Tasmania as a Director, and in 2023, they became the General Counsel at Evergen, a company focused on clean, renewable power solutions.

Theo Kapodistrias has a diverse education history. In 2007-2008, they attended Guilford Young College, where they obtained a Tasmanian Certificate of Education with a focus on Japanese, Theatre Performance, English, and Sociology. In 2009-2013, Theo pursued higher education at the University of Tasmania, earning a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degree with a specialization in Law and Criminology. In 2014, they completed a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the University of Tasmania. Later on, in 2018, Theo attended the Australian Institute of Company Directors for a short-term program called Governance Foundations for Not For Profit Directors.

Additionally, they have obtained various certifications throughout their career. In 2014, they were admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor by the Supreme Court of Tasmania. In 2018, Theo obtained the certification of High Court of Australia - Barrister and Solicitor. The following year, they completed the Thought Leadership program offered by LinkedIn. In 2020, they earned the In-House Counsel Certification from the Association of Corporate Counsel as well as completed the TED Masterclass through TED Conferences. Most recently, in 2021, Theo obtained a First Aid certification from CBD College Pty Limited.
