Michael R. Brown MD, PhD, MBA, CPE, FACS has an extensive work experience spanning several years and roles in the medical field. Michael R. Brown is currently working as a Medical Director at eviCore healthcare. Prior to this, they served as a Private Contractor at DakotaCardiac Thoracic Services, LLC in 2022.

Before joining DakotaCardiac Thoracic Services, LLC, Dr. Brown worked at Sanford Health from 2018 to 2022. Michael R. Brown held two roles during their time at Sanford Health, including Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgeon and Physician and Healthcare Leadership.

From 2000 to 2018, Dr. Brown worked at CHI St. Alexius Health. Michael R. Brown served as a Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgeon and held various leadership positions, such as Chief Medical Officer, President/CEO of CHI St. Alexius Heart & Lung Clinic, and President/Chief of Medical Staff. Michael R. Brown was also a member of the Board of Directors and Co-Chairman of the Governing Body at St. Alexius NDCIN (ND Clinical Integrated Network).

Dr. Brown's early career includes a Clinical Fellow position at Endovascular Therapy Fellowship Training in 2005 and Resident Physician and Postdoctoral Researcher roles at The University of Iowa from 1997 to 2000. Michael R. Brown also worked as a Resident Physician in General Surgery at the University of Hawaii at Manoa from 1992 to 1997.

Dr. Michael R. Brown has an extensive education history. Michael R. Brown obtained their Associate's degree (A.A.) from Bismarck State College in 1982. Michael R. Brown then went on to earn their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology, General from the University of North Dakota in 1985. Dr. Brown continued their education at the same institution, earning a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from 1985 to 1992.

Following their medical and research degrees, Dr. Brown completed a General Surgery Residency Program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa from 1992 to 1997. Michael R. Brown then pursued a Post-Doctoral Research program in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science/Research and Allied Professions at the University of Iowa from 1997 to 1998. Dr. Brown also completed a Thoracic Surgery Residency Program at the University of Iowa from 1998 to 2000.

Dr. Brown furthered their postgraduate education with an Endovascular Training program in Cardiac, Thoracic & Endovascular Therapies Fellowship at an unspecified institution from 2005 to 2006. In 2014, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Healthcare Management from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Michael R. Brown then earned a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) certification from the American Association for Physician Leadership in 2015.

In addition to their extensive education, Dr. Brown has achieved several certifications. Michael R. Brown obtained their American Board of Surgery certification in 2006, followed by their American Board of Thoracic Surgery certification in 2009. Finally, they obtained their Certified Physician Executive certification from the Certifying Commission in Medical Management in 2015.
