Andrea Varsavsky, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Andrea began their career as a DSP Engineer at Softronics Pty Ltd, where they programmed real-time DSP technology and provided customer support. Andrea then pursued their PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The University of Melbourne, where they focused on seizure detection algorithms and designed a novel algorithm for seizure detection that outperformed others in its class. After completing their PhD, they joined the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering as an Engineering Research Fellow, where they researched and developed technology to improve hearing for the hearing impaired. Andrea then moved to the Department of Otolaryngology as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow Grade 1, where they developed a cochlear implant stimulation strategy using mathematical models and performed general academic duties.Following this, Varsavsky joined the Center for Neural Engineering as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow Grade 2, where they continued their research on cochlear implant stimulation strategies. Andrea then transitioned to the medical device industry and worked at Medtronic Diabetes, Sensor R&D. At Medtronic, they held various roles as an R&D Engineering Supervisor, R&D Engineering Manager, and Senior R&D Engineering Manager, where they were responsible for improving sensor performance through the research and development of algorithms for glucose sensor platforms, advancing organizational understanding of sensor signals, and supporting R&D activities. Most recently, Varsavsky has been working at Evidation, where they have held roles as a Director of Data Science and Analytics, Senior Director of Research and Analytics, Vice President of Research, Analytics & Operations, Vice President of Business Operations, and currently serves as the Vice President of Data Strategy & Operations, Population Health. Throughout their career, Varsavsky has demonstrated expertise in data strategy, operations, research, analytics, and engineering, with a focus on improving healthcare technologies.

Andrea Varsavsky, PhD, obtained a BEng in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a BSc in Computer Science from The University of Melbourne in 1999-2002. Andrea subsequently completed a PhD in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from The University of Melbourne from 2004-2009.
