Karen Sandman has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Karen is currently the North American Head of Market Access Communications at Evidera since April 2022. Prior to this, from September 2021 to April 2022, they were the Executive Director of the Evidence Institute at AESARA.
Karen has held various leadership positions at Evidera, starting as the Vice President and US Practice Lead of Market Access Communications from July 2013 to January 2018. From January 2018 to June 2019, they served as the Vice President and General Manager of Market Access Communications, and then as the Vice President and General Manager of Evidence Synthesis, Modeling, and Communication from January 2019 to June 2019.
Before their tenure at Evidera, Karen was with United BioSource Corporation from June 2011 to July 2013, where they built a market access communications group and worked as a Senior Dossier Lead in Global Market Access Consulting. Prior to that, they worked as a Medical Director at Custom Learning Designs from November 2003 to May 2011.
Karen started their career as a Scientist at various pharmaceutical and biotech companies, including Vertex Pharmaceuticals in 2002, Praecis Pharmaceuticals from 2000 to 2001, and New England Biolabs from 1998 to 2001.
Throughout their career, Karen has expertise in market access communications, evidence synthesis, HEOR publications, HTA submissions, and developing value propositions for pharmaceuticals and healthcare products.
Karen Sandman attended Acton-Boxborough Regional High School (ABRHS) from 1985 to 1989. Karen then went on to attend Princeton University from 1989 to 1993, where they obtained their AB degree in Chemistry. Karen continued their education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 1993 to 1998, earning a PhD in Biochemistry.
