Evolito’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of electric propulsion in aerospace applications in support of a net-zero world.  We will help to revolutionise personal mobility and transform our towns and cities with clean, noise-free air transportation.

Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and General Aviation.

As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets. The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.

As part of our current high-growth phase, we are looking for a Systems Engineer to join the team to contribute to electric propulsion system development, validation and verification activities on programs to be certifiable under the guidelines of SAE ARP4754A, up to Functional Design Assurance Level (FDAL) A.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to new program and system concept design activities, including internal new product developments, or customer-driven applications, through the technology roadmap and ultimately to system/product launch
  • Supporting analysis of customer requirements and management throughout the development lifecycle
  • Assisting or authoring of requirement specifications for flow down to sub-systems, suppliers and/or customer/partner approval
  • Authoring/supporting interface control documents and ensure alignment with internal and customer requirements
  • Collaborating with the simulation, analysis and design teams to assist architect the system
  • Evaluating the suitability of the system architecture and make recommendations as appropriate
  • Supporting customers, partners and suppliers with systems integration of electric motors and controllers
  • Developing system test strategies showing traceability and compliance to customer and system requirements
  • Performing system Validation and Verification test activities
  • Producing Validation and Verification evidence to support certification
  • Supporting resource estimation and risk management.

Skills and experience required:

  • Degree or equivalent in electrical or systems engineering (or other relevant technical domain)
  • Demonstrated experience of applying systems engineering principles throughout design, development and delivery
  • Experience with requirements and lifecycle management tools such as DOORS, Polarion, codeBeamer
  • Ability to deal with system design complexity and a degree of ambiguity
  • Creative problem solver, with a logical approach to implementing solutions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • A flexible approach to work with the desire to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
  • Self-motivated with the determination to succeed
  • UK driving licence and be available to support visits to supplier sites.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with aerospace safety analysis techniques
  • Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methods using tools such as Simulink
  • Knowledge of motor control algorithms and implementation.
