Babak Alipanahi has a long history of working in the field of computational biology. Babak began their career in 2010 as a Research Intern at Microsoft Research Cambridge. Babak then moved on to a Postdoctoral Fellow position at the University of Toronto in 2011. In 2015, they took on two roles, first as a Computational Biologist at 23andMe, and then as Co-Founder at Deep Genomics. Babak then moved to Google in 2019 as a Sr. Research Scientist. In 2021, they became Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Exai Bio.
Babak Alipanahi's education history includes a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology - Tehran Polytechnic (1999-2003), an MSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tehran (2003-2005), and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo (2006-2011).
