Michael Multhaup

Senior Staff Scientist, Computational Biology at Exai Bio

Michael Multhaup has a long and varied work experience. Michael started as a Graduate Student at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2008 and was a Teaching Assistant for the Genetics class from 2010-2014. In 2011, they were a Contract Editor for American Journal Experts. From 2015-2020, they worked at 23andMe as a Product Scientist and a Senior Product Scientist. In 2020, they joined Guardant Health as a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist, where they worked on the development and validation of Guardant Shield, a liquid biopsy-based colorectal cancer screening test incorporating genomics, methylation and multiple additional biomarkers. Michael also developed a simulation pipeline to predict per-sample variability. In 2022, they joined Exai Bio as a Senior Staff Scientist in Computational Biology.

Michael Multhaup attended Stanford University from 2004 to 2008, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences. Michael then went on to The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from 2008 to 2014, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology.
