Rupert Johnstone has a diverse work experience in various roles within the arts and crafts industry. Starting in 2001, they worked as a Designer Maker at RAMP - Roop & Al Make Pots. In 2004, they continued their artistry as an Artist at cockpit arts until 2004. In 2006, Rupert became a Full Member of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen. Rupert also served as an Artist in Residence at the Appledore Visual Arts Festival in 2009. During the same period, they started working as an Associate Lecturer and Ceramics Technician at Exeter College, a role they held until 2012. From 2012 to 2016, Rupert became the Programme Leader for the Diploma in Foundation Studies, Art & Design - 3D Materials at Exeter College. In 2017, they became a Selected Member of the Craftsmen Potters Association (CPA). The following year, in 2018, Rupert took on the role of Director at Devon Applied Arts Workshop Ltd and became the Programme Leader for the Access To Higher Education Diploma - Art & Design at Exeter College. In 2019, they became the automation fellow for the South West Creative Technology Network. Rupert held this position until February 2020.
Rupert Johnstone attended the Edinburgh College of Art from 1993 to 1998. Rupert completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Design & Applied Arts during this period.
