Makis Markoulias has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. In 2011, they worked for the Ministry of Finance as a Statistics Researcher, conducting interviews, collecting demographic data, and conducting surveys. From 2011 to 2022, they worked at RCB BANK LTD as an I/S - Payments & AML Systems Unit/Specialist - Swift Support Administrator. In 2012, they worked as a Freediving Assistant Instructor at Snapper Sub Diving School. In 2005, they founded and managed Deepbreathphotography, working as a freelance underwater photographer. From 2009 to 2023, they worked as a freelance web designer/developer. In 2022, they worked as an Operations Manager at M R I A Group, overseeing daily operations and supporting department teams. Currently, they are working at Exness as a Protection & Data - Anti Financial Crime Academy - AFC Knowledge Manager, specializing in trading abuse protection, payments abuse/fraud prevention, and crypto threat protection.

Makis Markoulias earned a degree in Computer Systems Electronic Engineering from the Higher Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus (T.E.I) between 2006 and 2011. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained various certifications throughout their career. These include the Confluence Fundamentals Badge from Atlassian in July 2023, Powersoft365 - Accounting and Powersoft365 - Stock Control certifications from POWERSOFT Computer Solutions Ltd in November 2022, Microsoft Azure Application, Bitcoin, and Blockchain Basics certifications from Great Learning in 2022, The Future Of Payments Technologies certification from Coursera in 2022, Comp TIA Network+ Certification from Computrain in December 2014, and Manage SWIFT Alliance Access Certification and Operating SWIFT Alliance Access & Entry Certification from Swift Alliance Seminar in February 2012. Prior to their formal education, they also obtained a Speedboat Operator License from the Department of Merchant Shipping in July 2010, AIDA 3 certification from AIDA International in January 2010, and Open Water certification from NAUI Worldwide in June 2006.
