Joseph Bolt

Joseph Bolt has extensive work experience in mechanical design and project management. Joseph is currently working as the Lead Mechanical Designer at Desktop Metal since August 2021. Before that, they worked as the Lead Mechanical Designer at ExOne from December 2013 onwards. At ExOne, they utilized Solidworks to design 3D Metal Powder Printers and also had project management responsibilities.

Prior to their role at ExOne, Joseph worked at Elliott Group, Ebara Corp as a Lead Designer from November 2009 to December 2013. Here, they used Creo (Pro-E) and assisted in the design of Lube Oil Systems and Seal Gas Systems. Before joining Elliott Group, they worked at Extrude Hone as a Mechanical Designer from July 2008 to June 2009 and as a Lead Designer from June 2004 to July 2006. At Extrude Hone, they utilized Pro/ENGINEER and was involved in the design of new machines and Rapid Powder Metal Machines.

Joseph also gained experience at AREVA T&D as a Designer, where they used Pro/ENGINEER 2001 to design Power Distribution Circuit Breakers and assist in product line redesign. Joseph worked at Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory as a Designer from July 2003 to March 2004, where they had a government security clearance and used Pro/ENGINEER Rel. 2001. Additionally, they worked at Forefront Engineering & Design as a Designer from October 2001 to July 2003, focusing on piping design using Pro/ENGINEER Rel. 200i2 & 2001.

Joseph started their career as a Mechanical Draftsman at KDI & Associates, where they worked from May 1997 to October 2001 and was involved in projects for various companies including Hardinge Brothers Inc., Westinghouse, Adtranz, and P.S.

Joseph Bolt earned an Associate's degree in Mechanical Drafting and Mechanical Drafting CAD/CADD from Westmoreland County Community College from 1994 to 1997. In 1992 to 1994, they attended Norwin Senior High School, where they focused on College preparatory studies with an emphasis on CAD. Joseph also obtained certificates in Pro/ENGINEER from CADQUEST in 2001 and Introduction to Pro/ENGINEER from PTC in 1999.
