James G. has a diverse work experience in the field of language analysis and research. James started as an intern at the Center for Advanced China Research in 2019 and later worked as a research associate and intern at the US-China Education Trust. In 2019, they were also awarded the Critical Language Scholarship and Boren Fellowship for studying Mandarin Chinese. In 2020, James worked as an intern at the U.S. Department of State and became a member of the National Language Service Corps. James then went on to work as a China Media Analyst at Exovera starting in 2023. James also applied for a language analyst position at a US Federal Agency in 2021 but withdrew their candidacy.
James G. completed their Master's degree in National Security Policy Studies from The George Washington University between 2018 and 2021. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in International/Global Studies from the University of Missouri-Columbia, which they completed between 2008 and 2012. In 2011, James also participated in an intensive summer session at the University of Colorado Boulder, where they studied Japanese Language. Additionally, in 2010 and 2011, they had a study abroad experience at Sophia University, focusing on Japanese Language and Japanese Culture.
In terms of certifications, James obtained the OPI - Mandarin - level 3 ("General Professional") certification from ILR in 2020. In 2019, they achieved the OPI - Mandarin - "Superior" certification from ACTFL. Furthermore, in 2017, James obtained the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK - 汉语水平考试) - Level 5 from the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.
