Michael Strong has a diverse work experience in various roles within the healthcare industry. Michael started their career at the University of Phoenix as a faculty member from November 2008 to February 2011.

Afterward, they joined Optum as a Senior Recovery Resolution Analyst from April 2010 to September 2011, where they performed pre-payment medical audits for commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid insurance plans.

Michael then transitioned to the role of Senior Investigator at Optum from September 2011 to September 2014, conducting post-payment fraud investigations into mental health claims for various health plans.

Following this, Michael worked at SFM Mutual Insurance Company as a Bill Review Technical Specialist from September 2014 to August 2018. In this role, they built and led a team responsible for processing workers' compensation medical bills and implemented procedures to improve medical spend and provider relations.

Michael then joined Optum again in August 2018 as a Senior Healthcare Economics Consultant, where they researched and conceptualized opportunities for medical cost containment in commercial and Medicare insurance plans.

Michael's next role was at Equian, where they served as a Manager and later as an Operations Manager, Clinical & Coding Logic. Michael supervised a team of clinical and coding auditors for workers' compensation medical bill review payment integrity audits, generating significant savings through facility edits and establishing relationships with regulators and clients.

Michael'smost recent position is at Expion Health, where they currently work as the Director, Policy and Operations Strategy since December 2020.

Michael Strong has a strong education background in the field of health care administration and management. Michael obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology from The George Washington University, where they studied from 2002 to 2005. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Health Care Administration at the University of Maryland Global Campus, completing their studies from 2005 to 2007. Subsequently, they furthered their education by completing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a specialization in Health/Health Care Administration/Management from the same institution, studying from 2005 to 2008.

Additionally, Michael Strong has obtained certifications in the field. In December 2009, they became a Certified Evaluation and Management Coder through the AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders). Furthermore, Michael Strong holds the certification of Certified Professional Coder, which they obtained in November 2008, also from the AAPC.
