The ideal candidate for the Director of Talent and Culture is a seasoned HR professional with a passion for fostering inclusive and dynamic workplaces. The Director of Talent and Culture role is a dynamic leadership position where you'll set strategic vision and drive cultural initiatives, while also rolling up your sleeves to execute and implement programs directly. This dual role requires both big-picture thinking and hands-on involvement to foster a thriving and inclusive workplace. We are seeking candidates who possess exceptional communication and leadership skills, a deep understanding of HR compliance and best practices, and have a track record of building strong, inclusive, and engaged teams. 

What Qualifications We Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.

  • HR certifications (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred.

  • Five years of progressive HR experience, with a preference experience as an HR Generalist.

  • In-depth knowledge of HR legal and regulatory environments, especially California employment regulations.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly.

  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical and effective solutions.

  • A track record of fostering cooperation, collaboration, and partnerships.

  • Demonstrated integrity, compassion, credibility, and customer service orientation.

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all HR practices.

  • Experience in providing honest and constructive coaching at all organizational levels.

What You Will Be Doing:

Foster a Vibrant Culture:

  • Lead efforts, in partnership with the CEO and leadership team, to gather and understand employee engagement input and create actionable steps to further improve our culture.
  • Create an environment where employees are recognized for their achievements and supported to excel, this includes aligning recognition and events with company goals and values.
  • Develop and implement effective and transparent internal communication strategies to keep employees informed, engaged, and aligned with company goals.
  • Lead and manage internal IDEAS (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Action, and Social Justice) initiatives by developing and implementing inclusive programs that aim to drive systemic change and ensure continuous improvement in diversity, equity, and social justice efforts.

Attract, Recruit, and Welcome Talent:

  • Collaborate with the leadership team on workforce planning, anticipating staffing needs and creating proactive recruitment plans.
  • Partner with hiring managers to craft tailored and inclusive recruiting strategies.
  • Utilize innovative methods to attract top talent and maintain a strong talent pipeline and robust recruiting network.
  • Lead our vision of an impactful onboarding program, ensuring new hires feel welcomed and supported from day one.
  • Work closely with hiring managers to prepare customized onboarding plans and keep training materials up-to-date.

Facilitate Training, Growth, and Performance Management:

  • Oversee the timely completion of performance reviews and assist leadership with assessment process and feedback.
  • Promote learning and knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Develop and oversee organizational policies, providing guidance and advice to leadership team members as needed.
  • Facilitate training and development programs to support employee growth and performance improvement.

Manage Benefits, Compensation, Compliance, and People Data and Systems

  • ​​Manage all HR data, personnel records, and people systems, ensuring accuracy, security, and efficient access to information for reporting and decision-making.

  • Oversee the administration and management of employee benefits programs, ensuring they meet organizational needs and compliance standards, and serve as the liaison to health insurance providers and benefit brokers.

  • Develop and implement competitive compensation strategies, including incentive and variable pay programs, ensuring alignment with best practices and organizational goals to reward and motivate employees effectively.

  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and reporting requirements and liaise with outside legal counsel as appropriate.
