Chris Monk has extensive work experience in the field of human factors and research psychology. Chris has held a variety of roles in different organizations throughout their career.
From 2019 onwards, Chris has been working as a Senior Managing Scientist at Exponent. Prior to this, they spent nearly eight years at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), where they served as the Division Chief of Human Factors. During their time at NHTSA, Chris also had additional responsibilities as the Temporary Innovation Team Lead within the US DOT Office of the CIO, and as the Acting Division Chief of Electronic Systems Safety.
Before joining NHTSA, Chris worked at the Federal Highway Administration as a Lead Research Psychologist from 2010 to 2011. Prior to their role at the Federal Highway Administration, they were an Assistant Professor at George Mason University from 2005 to 2010, and a Senior Human Factors Researcher at Westat in 2005.
Chris's career began at SAIC, where they worked as a Research Psychologist from 1998 to 2004. Chris then went on to join Toyota Motor Corporation as a Human Factors Engineer from 1994 to 1997.
Throughout their career, Chris has demonstrated expertise in various aspects of human factors and research psychology, making him a valuable asset in their field.
Chris Monk completed their Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Philosophy at UC Santa Barbara from 1988 to 1992. Subsequently, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in Human Factors and Applied Experimental Psychology at California State University, Northridge from 1992 to 1997. Finally, they obtained a PhD in Human Factors and Applied Cognitive Psychology from George Mason University between 2000 and 2004.
