Edward Myers

Edward Myers has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Edward began their professional career as a Teaching Assistant at Cornell University, where they provided support in academic instruction. During their time at Cornell, they also served as a Graduate Student Researcher, leading an experimental effort to study the effects of electric currents on magnetic nanostructures. This research led him to demonstrate the ability of currents to manipulate magnetization, contributing to the development of nanoscale memory elements.

After completing their graduate studies, Edward joined the California Institute of Technology as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. Edward'swork focused on developing nanoelectromechanical (NEMS) devices for use in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) probes and studying the properties of nanoscale magnetic devices. Edward also collaborated with researchers at Ohio State University on studies of single-electron physics in solids.

Edward then joined WD, a Western Digital company, as a Research Scientist. Here, they served as the primary engineer on a characterization project for recording heads in the heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) program. Edward'sresponsibilities included test and characterization of prototype nanoscale recording heads, test design, and data analysis. Edward collaborated extensively with engineers in Japan and researchers in various fields to ensure seamless coordination.

Currently, Edward works at Exponent as a Managing Engineer, where they serve as a science and engineering consultant. Edward specializes in failure analysis and mitigation, using FMEA techniques to determine the root cause of electronic failures. Edward'swork also involves analysis for electronic design and operation, particularly in power, battery, and data storage components.

Edward Myers completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A) degree in Physics from Oberlin College from 1992 to 1996. Edward then pursued further education at Cornell University from 1996 to 2002, where they obtained their Master of Science (M.S) degree and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree, both in Physics.
