Emily Matys

Emily Matys has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Emily currently holds the position of Managing Scientist at Exponent since April 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Scientist at the same company from April 2021 to April 2023. Before their role as a Senior Scientist, Emily was a Scientist at Exponent from August 2019 to April 2021.

Before joining Exponent, Emily worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for a significant period. Emily was a Postdoctoral Researcher at MIT from September 2018 to January 2019. Prior to that, they were a Graduate Research Assistant at MIT from September 2012 to September 2018. Earlier in their career, Emily served as a Research Associate at MIT from January 2010 to August 2012.

Emily's early work experience includes a role as a Hydrologic Technician at the US Forest Service from June 2009 to November 2009. Emily also worked as a Research Technician at the University of Vermont from July 2007 to May 2009.

Emily Matys earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Emily completed their doctoral studies from 2012 to 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Environmental Science from the University of Vermont from 2005 to 2009.
