Human Factors Scientist at Exponent

Julie Freschl, PhD has a diverse work experience in various research and therapy roles. Julie is currently working as a Human Factors Scientist at Exponent since February 2023. Prior to that, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute from August 2021 to February 2023. Julie also worked as a PhD Candidate at UMass Boston from September 2016 to May 2021.

Before pursuing their PhD, Julie gained research experience at UC Irvine Health as a Junior Specialist and Research Assistant from June 2013 to July 2016. Julie also participated in the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program from September 2013 to May 2015.

Julie's research journey started at UC Irvine, where they worked as a Research Assistant from January 2015 to June 2016. Julie also worked as a Research Assistant at UC Irvine from an unspecified date in 2011 to 2012.

In addition to their research roles, Julie has practical experience in behavioral therapy and sensory enrichment therapy. Julie worked as a Behavioral Therapist at Novata Behavioral Health from March 2014 to June 2015, and as a Sensory Enrichment Therapist at Mendability: Home-Based Autism Therapy from October 2013 to June 2015.

Julie Freschl, PhD, earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Cognitive Neuroscience from UMass Boston. Julie attended UMass Boston from 2016 to 2021, focusing their studies on cognitive neuroscience. Prior to that, from 2011 to 2015, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Cognitive Science from UC Irvine. In addition to their formal education, Julie also obtained a certification in "Vision: A Platform for Linking Circuits, Perception, and Behavior" from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in June 2019.
