Melissa Trombley Mendias, PhD, PE, CFEI has over 13 years of work experience in various roles. Melissa is currently working as a Managing Engineer at Exponent, where they provide engineering guidance to clients in areas such as product development, manufacturing quality, field failures, and litigation. Melissa also evaluates consumer products for safety standards and performs failure analysis studies.

Prior to their current role, Melissa worked as an Adjunct Faculty and Subject Matter Expert at Grand Canyon University, where they designed new courses in electrical engineering and materials science. Melissa also established a Materials Science laboratory and taught courses in engineering, electronic materials, computer programming, and embedded systems. Melissa started their educational journey at Michigan Technological University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering in 2000. Melissa continued their studies at the same university and earned their Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2001. Melissa then pursued a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Michigan Technological University, completing their doctoral studies in 2006.
