Lana Semenova has extensive experience in the field of natural resource economics and environmental regulations. Svetlana "Lana" began their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Rhode Island, where they conducted research on the impact of land use changes on groundwater quality. Svetlana "Lana" also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, assisting in the instruction of undergraduate Environmental and Natural Resource Economics courses.

Lana then joined Abt Associates Inc. in 2002, where they held multiple roles over the course of several years. As an Analyst, they estimated economic benefits of water discharge regulations and developed methodologies for assessing the environmental impacts of international trade agreements. Svetlana "Lana" later became a Project Co-Manager and Senior Analyst, overseeing economic support for the revision of oil pollution prevention regulations. Svetlana "Lana" was a lead economist conducting regulatory analyses for revisions to the Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures (SPCC) rule, and they oversaw all aspects of economic support for the rulemaking process. Lana also performed economic analyses in support of environmental regulations for various EPA offices.

Currently, Lana is working at Exponent, a company specializing in natural resource damage assessment and restoration services. In their role as a Natural Resource Economist and Managing Scientist, they have worked on cases involving oil spills, chemical contamination, and wildfires. Svetlana "Lana" collaborates closely with clients and counsel to develop innovative and cost-effective restoration options, scaling restoration alternatives based on quantifiable injury, and negotiating restoration alternatives with state and federal Trustees. Lana has specialized expertise in scaling restoration alternatives for terrestrial and aquatic resources.

Svetlana "Lana" Semenova's education history begins in 1992 when they enrolled at St. Petersburg State Transport University. Svetlana "Lana" obtained their Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 1996. Following that, Lana pursued their Master of Science (M.S.) degree in the same field at the same university from 1996 to 1997. In 2000, Lana attended the University of Rhode Island where they earned another Master of Science (M.S.) degree, this time in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics. Their studies at the University of Rhode Island concluded in 2002.
