Frédéric Dreyer

Senior AI Research Scientist & Team Lead at Exscientia

Frédéric Dreyer has a diverse work experience in various scientific and research roles. Frédéric is currently employed at Exscientia as a Senior AI Research Scientist & Team Lead, where they lead the Biologics AI team and focuses on generative AI for protein design. Prior to this, they worked as a Royal Society University Research Fellow at the University of Oxford from 2018 to 2023. Frédéric also worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at Meta from 2022 to 2023.

Frédéric has a strong academic background, having served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2016 to 2018. Frédéric also worked as a PhD Student at CERN and Sorbonne University from 2013 to 2016, conducting research in particle physics. Additionally, they gained research experience as a Research Intern at the Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris, where they developed techniques for particle-in-cell simulations in theoretical and numerical studies of particle acceleration mechanisms in relativistic outflows.

In 2012, Frédéric held a research internship as a CERN Summer Student, working on CP violation in D0 mesons at the LHCb collaboration. Frédéric also served as a Teaching Assistant at ETH Zurich in 2012. Prior to that, they completed a research internship at the University of Oxford in 2011, studying transmission spectra and complex refractive index using Mie theory and the Levenberg-Marquard method.

Overall, Frédéric Dreyer's work experience showcases their expertise in AI research, machine learning, particle physics, and astrophysics.

Frédéric Dreyer has a diverse and extensive education history. Frédéric began their academic journey in 2008, earning a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Physics from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) in 2011. In the same year, they pursued two Master of Science (MSc) degrees, one in Physics from ETH Zürich and another in High Energy Physics from École Polytechnique.

Driven by a passion for theoretical physics, Frédéric joined Sorbonne University in 2013 and completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Theoretical Physics in 2016. To further enhance their skill set, they pursued additional educational opportunities beyond physics. In 2014, they obtained a Certificate from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, specifically completing the Stanford Ignite program. Additionally, in 2015, they earned a Certificate in Data Science Starter Program from Ecole Polytechnique Executive Education.

Continuing their pursuit of knowledge, Frédéric intends to earn a Certificate in Immunology and Pharmacology from HMX – Harvard Medical School in 2023. During their academic journey, they also had the opportunity to be an Exchange Student at McGill University, where they focused on Physics from 2010 to 2011.
