Michael Bohlander is a leading legal expert with extensive experience in international law and criminal justice. Currently serving as Chair in Global Law and SETI Policy and Chair in Comparative and International Criminal Law at Durham Law School since September 2004, Michael also holds the position of International Co-Investigating Judge at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) since April 2020, having previously served in a similar role at the ECCC from June 2015 to July 2019. Michael's judicial experience includes being a Judge at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers from February 2017 to August 2022 and working as a Senior Legal Officer at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) from April 1999 to March 2001. Michael began a legal career as Richter am Bezirksgericht/Landgericht at Bezirksgericht/Landgericht Meiningen from July 1991 to August 2004. Educational credentials include a Doctorate in Law from Universität des Saarlandes and two Staatsexamen qualifications from the Justizministerium des Saarlandes.
