Kaisa H. Hietala

Kaisa Hietala is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in renewable energy and strategic market development. As Chair and Founder of Greencode Ventures since January 2023 and a Non-Executive Director at Rio Tinto since March 2023, Hietala also holds various leadership positions, including Non-Employee Director at ExxonMobil and Non-Executive Director at Smurfit Kappa. Hietala previously chaired the Board of Directors at Tracegrow and co-owned Gaia Consulting Oy. An expert in sustainable business practices, Hietala served as EVP of Renewable Products at Neste from 2011 to 2019, where responsibilities included leading the renewables division and market development. Hietala’s prior roles at Neste included VP positions in Renewable Fuels and Renewable Feedstock Supply, along with developing biodiesel strategies. Educational credentials include a Master of Philosophy in Polar Studies from the University of Cambridge and a Master of Science in Geophysics and Environmental Science from the University of Oulu.
