Cherie Fathy

Cherie Fathy is an experienced Ophthalmologist and Medical Officer at the FDA, specializing in clinical review for cell and gene therapy trials, while also co-leading the Office of Clinical Evaluation's Recruitment Committee. Fathy co-founded and serves as Medical Director at Dunia Health, focusing on the integration of mHealth services in refugee clinics in collaboration with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency. Additional experience includes a Cornea Fellowship at Wilmer Eye Institute, an Ophthalmology Residency at Wills Eye Hospital, and a Transitional Year Internship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Brockton Signature Hospital. Fathy holds an MD/MPH from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and a BA in Neuroscience from Vanderbilt University. Contributions to the field also include writing for The Huffington Post.
