Shana White has a diverse range of work experience. Shana is currently the Senior Director of Clinical Genomics and Product at Fabric Genomics, starting in April 2023. Prior to that, they held multiple roles at Stanford University School of Medicine, including Clinical Instructor (Affiliated) starting in August 2018, where they supervised genetic counseling students and served on the admissions committee.
Before their time at Stanford, Shana worked at Stanford Health Care, starting in February 2016. Shana held various roles, including Team Lead from September 2021 to March 2023, where they led a team of genomic scientists and genetic counselors. Shana also served as a Senior Genetic Counselor from December 2018 to September 2021, improving user experience and implementing customized lab workflows.
Shana's earlier experience includes working as a Genetic Counselor at the Laboratory for Molecular Medicine from February 2013 to January 2016, where they wrote clinical reports and performed genetic variant assessments. Shana also worked as a Genetic Counselor at GeneInsight from February 2013 to January 2016.
In addition, Shana has experience as a Staff Research Associate at Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute from January 2009 to August 2010, conducting genotyping studies. Shana worked as a Research Associate at Corium International from October 2008 to December 2008, conducting proof of concept studies on a prototype transdermal drug/medical device. Prior to that, they worked as a Research Associate at UC Davis Medical Center from April 2008 to September 2008, genotyping Fragile X carriers and collecting data related to neurological disorders.
Shana's early career includes internships at PDL BioPharma from June 2007 to September 2007, where they performed PCR and sequencing DNA samples, and at UC Davis from January 2007 to June 2007, where they assisted in an anthropology lab and performed various laboratory techniques.
Shana White pursued their education starting in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Genetics at the University of California, Davis. Shana studied there for four years and successfully completed their undergraduate degree in 2008. Afterward, they furthered their education by enrolling at Boston University from 2010 to 2012. During this period, they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Genetic Counseling.
