Herman van Uum has worked in a variety of roles since 2008. In 2008, they worked as a Genist/Engineer for the Ministerie van Defensie. From 2014 to 2017, they were the Co-Founder of Full HD, Aboriginal Art & Business Model Innovation for UMS Pty Ltd, and Lebanon Representative for Aflatoun International. In 2018, they were a Consultant for Rise2030 and Principal, Market Ventures for OPTIMENS. In 2019, they were a Partnerships and Grants Consultant for LRC Association (LebRelief). Since 2020, they have been the Partnerships and Grants Manager (Lebanon & Jordan) for Fabric Aid.

Herman van Uum obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Commerciëble Economie from Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences between 2012 and 2016. Herman also holds certifications from the United States Department of Defense for Toxic Agent Training (VX and SARIN) obtained in October 2010, and from the Ministerie van Defensie for Basic Engineering Training (incl. demining) obtained in June 2009.
