Michiko Shima

Michiko Shima is an experienced professional currently serving as the Technical Director at the Fair Labor Association since August 2017, where responsibilities include leading global agricultural programs, developing risk assessments, and implementing worker voice applications while engaging with stakeholders. Previously, at BSI, Michiko provided thought leadership in corporate social responsibility and managed social and environmental risk practices. As an ESG Risk Management Specialist at the International Finance Corporation, Michiko identified and managed sustainability risks, while earlier roles included advising major Japanese corporations at FleishmanHillard Japan and consulting for The World Bank on environmental strategies. Michiko's educational background includes an MBA in International Business and Finance from The George Washington University and a Master's in Environmental Science and Policy from The Johns Hopkins University.
