Patrick Carroll began their work experience in 1998 as a Mental Health Case Manager at Kanza Mental Health, where they worked until 2001. In 2001, they joined Family Service & Guidance Center, initially as a Mental Health Case Manager until 2008. During their time at Family Service & Guidance Center, Patrick held various roles including Psychosocial Program Manager, Crisis Resolution Team Leader, and Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility Liaison. In these roles, they managed the daily operations of crisis resolution programs, worked with community partners to prevent out-of-home placements, and assisted in the assessment and admission process for residential treatment. Patrick's responsibilities also included extending mental health treatment into the community and home, providing support to children in school and social settings, and developing plans to decrease symptoms by utilizing their strengths. Their work experience at Family Service & Guidance Center ended in 2016.

Patrick Carroll attended Washburn University from 1998 to 2002, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Sociology.
