Mohamed Elhiti has a diverse work experience in the field of science and technology. Mohamed is currently serving as a Technology Lead Scientist at Farmer's Business Network, Inc. since October 2020. Prior to this, they worked at Haplotech Inc. as a Technology Lead from July 2019 to October 2020. Mohamed also worked as a Scientist at Tilray Canada Ltd. from February 2019 to June 2019.
Previously, Mohamed served as an Associate Researcher at the Plant Science Department, University of Manitoba, from June 2017 to February 2019. Mohamed was also a Post-Doctoral Associate at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Aarhus University, Science and Technology Branch from October 2016 to May 2017. Before that, they held the position of Associate Professor at the Faculty of Science, University of Tanta, from March 2014 to September 2016.
During their career, Mohamed was a part of an important project at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada as an NSERC Post-Doctoral Fellow. This project aimed to identify and isolate Plum Pox Virus resistant lines of peach. Mohamed utilized ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS) to introduce mutations in the genomic DNA, and the Next Generation Sequencer (NGSer) for selection based on rare mutations in peach plants population. Prior to this, Mohamed worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Manitoba from February 2011 to January 2012.
Mohamed Elhiti completed their Bachelor's degree in Botany/Plant Biology from Tanta University in the years 1996 to 1999. Mohamed then pursued a Master's degree, specializing in Botany/Plant Biology, from the same university from 2001 to 2004. Later on, Mohamed Elhiti attained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Plant Molecular Biology from the University of Manitoba, where they studied from 2006 to 2010.
