Tanya Crenshaw has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Tanya started their career as a Software Engineer at Sharp Microelectronics of the Americas in 1997, where they worked for two years. Tanya then joined Wind River as a Software Engineer, developing board support packages and memory management mechanisms for the VxWorks real-time operating system. After three years at Wind River, Tanya moved on to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where they served as a Research Assistant, investigating design patterns for embedded systems and teaching assistant for an introductory computer science course.

In 2008, Tanya joined the University of Portland as an Assistant Professor, teaching various computer science courses and advocating for the flipped classroom approach. Tanya was promoted to Associate Professor in 2014 and continued to excel in their teaching and advising responsibilities until December 2015.

Following their time at the university, Tanya transitioned to the industry and worked as a Software Developer at Cascade Energy, Inc. There, they utilized technologies like JavaScript, Docker, Elasticsearch, and Amazon Web Services to develop an Energy Management Information System (EMIS) called SENSEI. Tanya actively contributed to software development tasks and collaborated with internal teams to define new features.

In 2017, Tanya joined New Relic, Inc. as a Senior Software Engineer, where they worked until 2019. Their responsibilities included developing and maintaining software systems. Finally, Tanya joined Fastly in 2019 as a Senior Software Engineer, working on the Isolation Team to develop toolchains for running customer code on the edge computing platform. Tanya was later promoted to Principal Software Engineer at Fastly in January 2021, where they focused on developing and maintaining TLS code for terminating connections on the Fastly fleet.

Tanya Crenshaw pursued their Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Portland from 1994 to 1998. Later, they went on to attend the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science between 2002 and 2008.
