Amy C. Thompson

Director, Office of Communications at FDIC

Amy C. Thompson is currently the Director of Communications for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Prior to their current role, they served as the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development from April 2017 to June 2019. In this role, they oversaw all public affairs activities for the department, including media relations, public information, and intergovernmental and external affairs.

Previously, Ms. Thompson was the Director of Communications for the Community Financial Services Association (CFSA) from April 2012 to April 2017. In this role, they managed all aspects of communications for the trade association, including media relations, public affairs, government affairs, and member communications.

Prior to their work in the financial services industry, Ms. Thompson worked on several political campaigns, including the 2008 Republican National Convention, John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign, and Mitt Romney's 2012 presidential campaign. Amy also worked in corporate communications at Target Corporation from January 2011 to April 2012.

Ms. Thompson began their career in public relations at Levick Strategic Communications in January 2008, where they worked on a variety of accounts before being promoted to Account Supervisor in 2010.

Amy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from James Madison University.

Amy C. Thompson has a BA in Journalism and Political Science from the University of North Texas.

Amy C. Thompson reports to Martin J. Gruenberg, Acting Chairman. They are on a team with Doreen R. Eberley - Director, Division of Risk Management Supervision, Patrick M. Mitchell - Director, Division of Insurance & Research, and Mark E. Pearce - Director, Division of Depositor & Consumer Protection.
