Tami Franklin

Deputy Associate Administrator, Mission Support at FEMA

Ms. Tami Franklin serves as the Chief Security Officer for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). In this role, she is responsible for providing comprehensive security services, programs, and activities to protect FEMA personnel, facilities, information, and equipment, as well as to protect government funds from fraud, waste, and abuse.

Prior to her position at FEMA, Tami served as the Deputy Associate Commissioner for the Office of Security and Emergency Preparedness at the Social Security Administration (SSA). In this role, she was responsible for ensuring the safety of 65,000 agency employees at 1,500 agency facilities. She directed SSA’s nationwide physical and protective security programs, occupant emergency operations, continuity of operations planning, and the defensive counterintelligence and insider threat programs. Tami also served as SSA’s Federal Senior Intelligence Coordinator.

Prior to her tenure at SSA, Tami served as the Director of the Security Management Division at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). In this position, she was responsible for EPA’s emergency preparedness, personnel and physical security, critical infrastructure protection, the national security information program, the Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 Personal Identity Verification credential program, and occupant emergency planning.

Prior to joining EPA, Tami worked in the private sector as a senior information technology consultant supporting federal government clients with process reengineering, workflow streamlining, and leveraging technology to improve business operations. Tami earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Creighton University.
