Federal Public Defender
Heather Quick serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Iowa College of Law since January 2025. Currently, Heather holds the position of Appellate Chief and First Assistant Federal Public Defender at the Federal Public Defender's Office, a role maintained since August 2015. Previous experience includes serving as a Staff Attorney at Iowa Legal Aid for a brief period in 2015 and as an Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Appeals Division at the Office of the Attorney General of Iowa from August 2013 to May 2015. Additionally, Heather gained valuable experience as a Law Clerk to Judge Michael Melloy at the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit from August 2012 to August 2013. Education includes a Juris Doctor degree with high distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Iowa State University.
