Jerry V. Beard

Assistant Federal Defender at Federal Public Defender

Jerry V. Beard has extensive experience in legal and military fields, serving as an Assistant Federal Defender (appellate litigator) with the Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of Texas since May 2000, and previously held the position of Visiting Attorney-Advisor at the Administrative Office of the United States Courts. Jerry has also contributed to legal education as an Adjunct Law Professor at Texas Tech School of Law, teaching Federal Criminal Practice Skills from 2004 to 2007. In addition to legal work, Jerry served as a Lt Col. in the Air Force Reserve from 1982 to 2006, commanding a squadron post-9/11 during critical missions in Iraq and Turkey. Educational qualifications include a Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Texas. Prior legal roles include research and writing attorney at the Federal Public Defender and Judge Advocate in the USAFR.
