Federal Public Defender
Shalanda R. Plowden is a legal professional with extensive experience in public defense and advocacy. Currently serving as a Law Fellow at the Federal Public Defender since August 2021, Shalanda also contributes as an Ambassador for Lawyers Of Color. Prior roles include Legal Intern at the Milton A. Kramer Law Clinic and Cuadro Legal Abogados, as well as Investigative work for the Yemen Accountability Project. Shalanda holds leadership positions as Internal Vice President of the Black Graduate and Professional Student Association and Director of Professional Development for the Graduate Student Council at Case Western Reserve University, where a Juris Doctor degree was obtained. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts with double majors in Political Science Pre Law and History from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
