Theodoro Netto is a distinguished academic and industry professional with extensive experience in ocean engineering and mechanical engineering. Since May 1989, Theodoro has served as a Professor Titular and Researcher at COPPE/UFRJ. Currently, Theodoro holds the position of Diretor Técnico at SOBENA and has been actively involved with ASME's OOAE Division as Technical Program Chair, Chair, and First Vice Chair since July 2018. Theodoro coordinates the Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering Conference's Pipelines, Risers, and Subsea Systems Symposium since June 2012. Additionally, Theodoro was a Visiting Professor at The University of Texas at Austin from August 2019 to August 2020 and headed the Ocean Engineering Department at COPPE/UFRJ from January 2012 to January 2016. Theodoro's professional contributions include serving as a Senior Technical Consultant for PETROBRAS from 2002 to 2007 and being part of Lloyd's Register Offshore Technical Committee from 2013 to 2015. Theodoro holds a PhD in Engineering Mechanics from The University of Texas at Austin and advanced degrees in ocean engineering and naval engineering from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.
