Russell Baird has a diverse work experience. Russell started their career as an intern at Chemical Abstracts Service in 2003. Russell then worked as a graduate student at The Ohio State University in 2005, before joining Mylan as a Process Engineer in 2006. At Mylan, Russell developed a patented process for the production of a transdermal device in a GMP environment. Russell worked on producing pharmaceutical materials for clinical trials and feasibility studies.
In 2010, Russell joined Behr Paint as a Process Chemist. Russell served as a liaison between QC, R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain, coordinating product launches and process and product improvements. Russell also manipulated data to support business decisions.
In 2012, Russell moved to CryoLife, Inc., where they held various roles. Russell started as a Process Development Engineer, working on scale-up and process design for a novel hemostatic agent. Russell was responsible for equipment specification, process development, SOP generation, and product specification and test method development for Class II sterile medical devices in a GMP environment. Russell also conducted operator training, developed metrics, and monitored critical processes. Russell then became a Senior Process Development Engineer, and later a Sustaining Engineering Manager. As a manager, they led the Lean program and achieved a $700k reduction in $12mm spend within the first calendar year.
Russell's most recent role is Director of Manufacturing Engineering at Femasys, starting in September 2017.
Russell Baird attended The Ohio State University from 2001 to 2006, where they obtained both a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. Furthermore, they have obtained additional certifications including Certified Quality Engineer from the American Society of Quality in December 2011 and an LSS Green Belt from Performance Excellence INC, though the month and year of completion are not provided.
