Duncan Ellis

VP, Global Systems Engineering at Fiber Smart Networks

Duncan Ellis has a long and varied work experience. Duncan began their career in 1985 as a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy. In 1999, they worked as a Project Manager for Bytes Technology Group and a SE for Data General. In 2001, they worked as a Pre-Sales Consultant for Auspex, and in 2002, they worked as a TAM for Hardware Planning Services (HPS). In 2004, they joined Ciena, where they held various roles such as Global Market Development & Consulting, Director of Global Alliances, EMEA, SE Director, EMEA Partners & Enterprise, SE Manager - Northern EMEA, and EMEA Storage Systems Engineer. In 2018, they co-founded ID8 Consulting Limited and also worked as VP, Global Systems Engineering for Fiber Smart Networks.

Duncan Ellis obtained a BEng (Hons) in Systems Engineering from the Royal Naval Engineering College between 1988 and 1991. Duncan then went on to obtain an MSc in Microwaves and Opto-Electronics from UCL between 1992 and 1993. In 1994 and 1995, Duncan Ellis received an MCGI in Microwaves and Opto-Electronics from the City and Guilds Institute. In March 1999, they obtained a Certificate in Project Management from ISEB, and a PRINCE2® Foundation and Practitioner Certification Training from CCTA.
