In 2002, Mark pursued a Bachelor of Education degree in Secondary Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto, which they completed in 2003.

Afterward, Mark decided to further their knowledge in the field of chemistry and obtained a Master of Science degree from the University of Guelph, graduating in 2006.
